On Saturday 14th July, Wolverley Camp Archives were invited to a local event
to display some information from Wolverley Camp. The Friends of St. Johns Church,
Wolverley asked us to their “Pig Roast”, which was held in the grounds
of the Church Hall. Surprisingly the event took place in near perfect weather and
hopefully raised some more funds for the upkeep of our church. There was considerable
interest in our display from many of those who came along. Its amazing just how many
people still ask the question, “Where was Wolverley Camp”. Many were even
more amazed at its history.

Saturday 21st April saw the arrival of what was once a familiar
site at Wolverley Camp. Travelling from nearby Birmingham, Martin
Collins arrived in his 1942 Dodge ambulance. This was a great
opportunity to take photos of the ambulance and some of the remaining
wartime buildings at the former hospital. Martin also took the opportunity
of bringing with him a donation for the church Memorial Fund.

Perhaps we will be able to persuade Martin and his ambulance to visit us again when the memorial is dedicated. Mike Webster. |
