At 2400 hours on 29th June 1945 the 52nd General Hospital at Camp Wolverley
closed for the reception of new patients. The hospital moved to Frenchay Park
in Bristol where it began admitting patients again on 6th July. During the war
American military hospitals stationed at Frenchay Park were, 152nd Station Hospital,
77th Evacuation Hospital, 2nd Evacuation Hospital, 298th General Hospital and 117th
General Hospital. The 52nd General Hospital’s stay at Frenchay Park proved to
be a short one. On 12th August 1945 they received orders to move to Everleigh Park
in Wiltshire.
Martin Collins recently sent us these photos of some of the wartime buildings, which can still be found there.
