Cookley man, Norman Tilt was overjoyed recently when he received pictures of a
baseball that he had treasured for nearly sixty years. At the end of the Second
World War, Norman had been given the ball signed by the entire baseball team of
the 52nd General Hospital by a GI. Early in 2002, Norman sent the ball to the
SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York, where it is now kept with
other historical items from the 52nd.
Thanks to the help of Mr Eric Luft, Curator of Historical Collections at the University, Norman has been able to see the ball in the hands of the former baseball coach, Max Kutzer. Can anyone give us any information about the 52nd’s baseball team, we understand they were “pretty good”.

Wolverley camp had an unusual visitor during the Christmas holiday.
Martin Collins visited the former site in his new 4x4 1.5ton Chevrolet
truck manufactured in 1941.
The photograph shows the truck and Mike Webster outside the former Officer's Mess. |

During my research of Wolverley Camp I have received numerous
personal stories, photographs, memorabilia, and surprisingly a
small number of video and audio recordings. I have decided to call
this ever growing collection the "Wolverley Camp Archives". I am
always interested in adding further information to this collection.

Sadly I have decided not to continue with the production
of the Wolverley Camp film. I would like to pass on my
thanks to those people who helped me with this project
by telling their memories of Wolverley Camp on film.
Hopefully this project can be resurrected sometime in the future.
